Always check with your local planning authority and, where needed, Building Control. Permitted development rights can be removed by article 4 directions, listed-building status, conservation areas and flats/maisonettes rules.
Garden rooms and outbuildings (general)
Many incidental garden buildings can fall under permitted development if they meet height, location and use limits — but living accommodation, sleeping use, and larger or forward-of-principal-elevation buildings often need permission. Confirm before you order panels.
Extensions
Rear and side extensions have their own permitted development limits and neighbour consultation schemes in England. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland differ. Use a designer who knows your nation’s rules.
Building Regulations
Even when planning permission is not required, Building Regulations may still apply (structure, fire, insulation, electrics, drainage). A SIP panel supply is not a Building Control approval.
